CoDAF - Digital Skills for Family Farming held the course “Use of Spreadsheets in Rural Property Management” in Herculândia, on April 13 and 14. Taught by Prof. Elaine Parra Affonso with the collaboration of CoDAF members, it took place in the computer lab of the Minors Development and Support Project – PRODAM. The event had the support of the Herculândia City Hall and the Herculândia Agriculture House – CATI, Tupã Regional Office.
The course, which had more than 20 dairy producers, sought to highlight the importance of using computers and the internet in the countryside, especially on small rural properties.
According to Prof. Elaine, “in this course, the producers received instruction on basic spreadsheet concepts such as use of the program and its formulas and functions”. The course also included the presentation of the “Input Inventory Control” spreadsheet, an easy-to-use tool that is available on the CoDAF portal; just click here.
The professor reminded that “the purpose of the activity is to show that it is possible to use resources such as computers and internet access to help manage the rural property”
This contact of the producers with new technology resulted in comments such as: “...now I feel ready to buy a computer...” or “Wow! At first it seems so hard... but then, as we use it in practice, everything gets easier, I'll want to use it!”.
We remind those who wish to bring the courses offered by CoDAF to their city, whether through the support of city halls, associations or any other group of interested parties, that they just need to get in touch by e-mail: codaf@tupa.unesp.br.
