Introduction
Chácara São João is a family property located on the road toward Juliânia, Afonso Treze neighborhood, in the city of Tupã, State of São Paulo (Brazil). The farm has an area used in an extremely productive way, where a variety of fruits and vegetables are grown, later distributed and sold in supermarkets and regional/local fairs. With gardens and greenhouses spread over 1.5 alqueires of the property's total of 4 alqueires, the farmer grows a variety of greens and vegetables such as Swiss chard, lettuce, beet, broccoli, chives, collard greens, cauliflower, spinach, cucumber and green beans, as well as some fruits such as Tahiti lime, strawberry and dragon fruit (of the yellow, white and red varieties).
Highlight
In wide, well-divided beds, each crop has its own space, which makes the organization of these productive spaces clear while the colors of the vegetable varieties contrast, creating a great visual impression for visitors.
Differentiator
The strawberries produced, besides being washed and sanitized, are placed in small plastic boxes ideal for marketing the fruit, and later put in plastic crates that make them easier to transport, generating a high added economic value precisely because the strawberries do not suffer from excessive direct handling by many people.
Information
The dragon fruit plants grown at Chácara São João are of the yellow, white and red varieties, and some fruits have already exceeded 1 kg in weight without losing the fruit's characteristic quality in flavor and texture. Another particularity of the dragon fruit concerns its red variety, which at flowering time gives off a very fragrant smell, noticeable from a certain distance from the area where it is planted.
Where to Buy
To buy products from Sítio São João, go to the Sunday market, where there is a stand with the variety of the products grown; the stand is located near the corner of Rua Aimorés and Rua Tabajaras, in front of the establishment (Forninho).
