South Africa hosted event on Forests

· By Fernando de Assis Rodrigues

The WFC2015 event took place in the city of Durban, South Africa, from September 7 to 11, 2015. The event, whose theme is "Forests and people: investing in a sustainable future," brought together politicians, public officials, researchers and community representatives to reflect on new strategies for the use and development of forests as one more element in the fight against poverty among rural populations. Forests are also part of the discussions on climate improvements and an inspiration for the development of new sustainable technologies.

The WFC event has existed since 1926 and was held on the African continent for the first time.
