Registration in Cadin prevents farmers from taking out any type of credit from financial institutions, which has made production unviable for many of them. The suspension of the requirement to pay the debts was ordered by the Minister of National Integration, Fernando Bezerra Coelho, through Ordinance No. 398, published in the Official Gazette of the Union last Friday (30). The document also suspends for 12 months the requirement to pay installments of the debts that fall due in that period. The decision benefits producers settled in public irrigation districts by the Development Company of the São Francisco and Parnaíba Valleys (Codevasf).
