Irrigation system for family farming

Family farming has been gaining ground in many areas, including science, with diverse research focuses aimed at farmers. At the 2nd Digital Skills for Family Farming Meeting (http://codaf.tupa.unesp.br/eventos-codaf/eventos/ii-e-codaf), several papers were presented for family farmers, among them “Automation of the Irrigation Process in Family Farming with the Arduino Platform” (http://codaf.tupa.unesp.br/images/artigos/781/Anais_FINAL1.pdf).

The authors Rodrigo Vilela da Rocha and Kianne Crystie Bezerra da Cunha carried out research on the creation of an automated irrigation system using Arduino that can be implemented and used by family farmers, allowing better irrigation control than the manual systems currently in use and at a low cost compared to the irrigation systems offered on the market, which are unfeasible most of the time for family farmers.

The research presented shows a solution that is feasible for small producers to implement, especially family farmers, enabling better productive efficiency and making them more competitive compared to larger farmers who have greater resources.
