IBGE releases open data plan

Open data is defined as the freedom for anyone to access, use, share or modify these data for any purpose, and which, according to the IBGE open data portal, is "subject, at most, to requirements aimed at preserving its provenance and openness".

Thus, in compliance with Article 9 of Decree-Law No. 8,777 of May 11, 2016, IBGE publishes its Open Data Plan (PDA), which, according to IBGE's acting director of information technology, seeks to portray Brazil with the necessary information and to bring transparency to the data produced by the institute.

This plan therefore serves as IBGE's guide for internal planning and coordination of the measures needed to make its datasets available, valid for the consecutive years 2016-2017, putting the Open Data Policy into practice and taking on responsibility for the publication and maintenance/updating of the institute's open data.

All surveys, statistics and indicators produced by the institute will be published in an open format, making it easier, for example, to consult data on public policies for the creation of information that matters to the whole community.

The release schedule can be found in the Open Data Plan available at this link.
