Embrapa Grape and Wine developed, in partnership with the company Monofrio, the Suquificador Integral, a piece of equipment that produces whole grape juice in smaller quantities, with no added water, in order to help more than fifty thousand small producers in Brazil.
In analyses carried out, it was possible to verify that the Suquificador Integral produces a grape juice with a more intense color, less cloudiness, and better aroma and flavor when compared to the steam-drag extractor pot method, in addition to being more economical.
According to Darci Dani, executive director of the Rio Grande do Sul Winegrowers Association, “the Suquificador will help small producers ensure the making of a product with higher added value”.
The Suquificador Integral runs on electricity and processes up to 70 kg of destemmed and crushed grapes per hour, yielding approximately 35 liters of juice, and is expected to be sold for R$ 15 thousand.
