Data on the sugarcane harvest in Brazil

Brazil's total sugarcane production (in thousand tons) shows a significant increase in its harvest, going from 25 thousand tons in 2005/2006 to a forecast of approximately 40 thousand tons for 2017/2018 and, according to the National Supply Company (CONAB), the Southeast accounts for approximately half of national Sugar production, followed by the Northeast.

Given this outlook for the sugar sector in Brazil, CONAB makes available data on historical series of planted area, productivity and production, relating to the 2005/2006 to 2016/2017 harvests of total sugarcane in Brazil, as well as in each region of the country. This database gives producers access to economic data gathered by reference institutions, in order to facilitate decision-making for market competitiveness.

The data provided are arranged by year, production, regions of the Brazilian federative units, the period corresponding to each harvest, and information pertaining to them. This makes it possible to estimate the behavior of sugar production over the years and thus manage the sugar-producing property.

Depending on the producer's need to look for data on the market for their product, as in the situation presented, the CoDAF portal provides data sources for agriculture, with examples of their applicability.
