During the 3rd International Meeting on Data, Technology and Information, held October 4 to 6 at São Paulo State University (UNESP) "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" - Marília Campus, master's student Elizabete Cristina de Souza de Aguiar Monteiro, a member of the CoDAF Project, presented the paper "The use of Rich Snippets for data and information retrieval on the Web".
The research was carried out jointly with professor and researcher Ricardo César Gonçalves Sant'Ana, and focused on presenting the semantic improvements adopted by Google, such as Rich Snippets. Rich Snippets are descriptions enriched with additional information that appear in search results and that assist search engines such as Google.
The paper also showed that adopting Rich Snippets can help libraries with access to and dissemination of their products and services.
It was also found that the use of Rich Snippets is helping to make the Web more semantic, improving the list of results presented to users at the moment of retrieval.
