On October 25, the event titled III Workshop on Data Science was held at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (POLI/USP), addressing issues related to open data management in research.
The event was supported by important institutions such as FAPESP, INPA and Red Hat, and featured international and national speakers talking about the collection and application of data in scientific research.
Professor Mike Frame (United States Geological Survey - USGS) discussed the use of environmental data, biodiversity, conservation areas and climate change. Professor Giri Palanisamy (Oak Ridge National Laboratory - ORNL) showed applications of data on atmospheric radiation measurements collected in the city of Manacapuru - AM/Brazil. Professor Suzie Allard (University of Tennessee - UT) raised questions about the technologies used to make data available on the DataONE portal (https://www.dataone.org/). Professor Rachel Albrecht (IAG/USP) addressed the use of different data sources to analyze storm formation in the Manaus region. Finally, Professor Matt Toussant (American Chemical Society) presented a history of data generation in the field of chemistry.
During the event, contacts were established with the other participants and speakers, where the activities carried out by CoDAF were publicized, seeking to get closer to partners in order to outline new projects with the group.
