The Digital Skills for Family Farming Project (CoDAF) held, on June 13, 2019, the course titled “Data access for decision-making: using spreadsheets to visualize agricultural data”. The activity took place at the Vera Cruz Technical School (ETEC), with an audience of approximately 80 students enrolled in integrated high school programs with the Agriculture and Livestock Technician and Administration courses.
It is worth noting that a significant share of the students taking the course had family ties to rural producers in the region. The aim was to present to them some of the characteristics, importance and difficulties of the data access process, demonstrating options of data sources that may be useful for agricultural activity and how these data can be manipulated with visualization features available in spreadsheets, thereby developing digital skills in these rural youth.
As part of the content covered during the course, information about CoDAF was presented, such as, for example, the Project’s objectives and its activities to enable the development of digital skills. To make the activity possible, four members volunteered: Fábio Moreira and Jacquelin Reyes (doctoral students in Information Science at UNESP/Marília) and João Victor Pompeo and Luis Gustavo Puga (undergraduate students in Administration at UNESP/Tupã).
