4TH DATA, INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY STUDY CYCLE (CEDIT)

The 4th Data, Information and Technology Study Cycle (CEDIT) took place last Saturday, September 2, in the Shunji Nishimura Auditorium of the School of Sciences and Engineering - UNESP/Tupã. On this occasion, four lectures were presented: the first lecture, titled “Information sources in scientific production,” was given by Prof. Diana Vilas Boas Souto Aleixo, M.S., a doctoral student in Information Science at UNESP Marília. The lecture aimed to help researchers define methodological procedures, offering definitions of primary and secondary data sources and presenting examples in both Brazil and abroad. She traced a path through data sources defined according to various studies, over the course of scientific activities.

Prof. Daiane Marcela Piccolo, M.S., affiliated with FATEC Presidente Prudente, presented the lecture “Project management and the role of information technologies,” placing it in the context of projects, with definitions from the field and using the PMBOK guide, which covers a set of tools to support project management. The speaker showed the versatility of the guide, indicating the types and sizes of projects in which it could be used, and illustrated its use with the development of part of a Lettuce Cultivation project.

The third presentation was titled “MIT App Inventor as a data collection tool” and was given by Prof. Ricardo Costa Rossi, affiliated with ETEC Novo Horizonte. The speaker described this software development tool for mobile apps, showing how, in a simple way, it can help data collection processes. He presented the tool with its advantages, limitations and potential for use by small organizations.

The closing lecture was given by Prof. Fábio Mosso Moreira, M.S., a doctoral student in Information Science: “Informational needs of small rural producers and online data sources.” The speaker placed Brazilian agribusiness and its importance to the national economy in context, going through management processes on rural properties by means of administrative practices but focusing on small properties, with an emphasis on the informational needs that scientists in various countries around the world have been researching. These informational needs were presented through a categorization, quantifying the studies found in each of the categories identified by the speaker.
