1st CEDIT took place on May 6.

On May 6, the CoDAF project organized the 1st Data, Technology and Information Study Cycle at the School of Sciences and Engineering (FCE) at UNESP Tupã.

In its first edition, CEDIT aimed to raise reflections on the use of methodologies for research related to Information and Communication Technologies in the rural sector, from the perspective of Information Science.

These reflections grew out of talks by members of the CoDAF project. The first, presented by Prof. M.S. Elaine Parra Affonso, was Qualitative methodology in research on ICT for the rural sector. The qualitative methodology seeks to understand the phenomena of the subjects based on data collection, in which the subjects are an integral part of the investigative process.

Next, Prof. M.S. Elizabete Cristina de Souza de Aguiar Monteiro gave the talk titled Users and Uses of a digital archive: DANS case study. DANS is an institute for digital repositories of research data, which makes it possible to share and reuse data collected in investigations. The institute can be accessed at the link https://dans.knaw.nl/en.

To close, Prof. M.S. Diana Vilas Boas Souto Aleixo sought to make explicit the importance of the conceptual construction of Information Science and its contribution to research on ICT for the rural sector, presenting the talk titled Epistemology of Information Science for research on ICT for the rural sector. In it she covered the historical course of Information Science and how the concepts it addresses have differed over time, seeking the consequent broadening of the debate with the theories and subareas of this field of knowledge, to guide research within the rural sector.
