Brazil has public policies to encourage small rural producers, among them the Food Acquisition Program (PAA), a program that enables a marketing channel between small rural producers and public bodies, which will distribute the food to states, the Federal District, municipalities and/or public consortia with the Federal Government. The financial resources allocated to the execution of this program are coordinated by the Ministry of Social Development and Fight Against Hunger (MDS) and the Ministry of Agrarian Development (MDA), and its operation generates data on the transfers, made available by Conab through the online service “Agriculture and Livestock Indicators”.
Information about the origin of the data
Conab is a state-owned company linked to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply – MAPA and is present in all regions of the country, following the path of agricultural production from the planning of planting to the consumer's table, generating data and making it available on the Web.

Described below are the attributes that make up the structure of the dataset used to generate the visualization presented next:
Region/UF – Region and its respective states, for specifying the number of farmers and the funds allocated to each state. The value of this data is expressed as an abbreviation of two characters.
Farmers – Number of farmers participating in the PAA modality. The value of this data is expressed as an integer indicating quantity.
Funds – Amount of funds distributed through the PAA. The value of this data is expressed in numbers in currency format.
The data are grouped by:
Purchase with simultaneous donation – Number of farmers benefited by the purchase with simultaneous donation, which refers to direct sale to states, the Federal District, municipalities and/or public consortia, where the products are delivered to a Distribution Center to be weighed, separated and donated, and the funds allocated to this action.
Stock formation – Number of farmers benefited by stock formation and the amount of funds allocated to this action (numbers).
Seeds – Acquisition or donation of seeds through the PAA.
Total PAA– total result of the sum of the distribution of funds through the PAA.
